How Did I Create This Blog?
The first steps in creating this blog involved exploring the possible ways to build a blog:
- Code the blog myself and find a hosting platform to run it on.
- Use an application designed for creating blogs with all the necessary tools.
- Pay someone to create the blog for me.
After analyzing these options, I decided that using a blog creation application was the best solution. Creating the blog myself would take too much time and energy, and while paying someone was a viable option, as a student, saving money is essential.
Once I made this decision, it was time to start building the blog. Below is a list of the steps I followed:
- Choose the Software: I decided to use Combell after some research. Combell is easy to use and set up. Additionally, as a Howest student, I received a free Combell license, which saved me a lot of money.
- Obtain a License: I got a Combell license through academic software.
- Get a Domain Name: I acquired a domain name for the blog via Combell.
- Select the Best Hosting Option: I purchased the most suitable hosting plan for my blog.
- Configure the Website: I set up the initial configuration for the website.
- Choose a CMS: I opted for WordPress as the content management system for the blog.
- Enhance Security: I changed the default WordPress password for security reasons.
- Create Pages:
- About Me: A page introducing myself.
- Home Page: I restructured the home page to make it user-friendly.
- CV Page: A page showcasing my curriculum vitae.
- How I Created This Blog: A page detailing the process of creating the blog.
- Events Page: Pages for various events.
